Projects in Ludwigshafen

There are a number of projects to which everybody can contribute on a voluntary basis.

Be it the participation in one of the cafés in the various parts of the city or in a work group in which important issues will be regularly discussed and tackled.

If you have mechanical skills, for example, you could offer to help out in one of the bicycle workshops for refugees.

"Mit Rad und Tat"

Bicycles can be brought to the workshops of the project “With bike and advice”.

In this project, bicycles are repaired together with asylum seekers. Following that, the asylum seekers can use the bicycles. They will also be given training courses by the police and the German Automobile Club ADAC as to how to behave on a bike in road traffic. The project is supported by BASF SE.

Whoever has a bike that he or she does not need any longer, may gladly donate it for this purpose.

Integration guides

Those who are interested in helping refugees on a voluntary basis can now register as integration guides. The catholic aid organisation Malteser is organizing projects in Ludwigshafen. Integration guides can decide if they want to help refugee children and children with migratory background but also adult single persons or families. Free trainings and advisory support are offered. "One plate more"

“One plate more” is a project of the citizens’ group “Respekt: Menschen!” whereby host families take in a child from a refugee family (or other children and youth requiring support) to eat, talk, do homework, play and so on for at least two days a week.

The citizens’ group, which brings hosts, children and youth together, is urgently seeking host families. Those interested in getting involved are requested to get in touch with “Respekt: Menchen!” by email at

Hosts are requested to provide an extended police clearance certificate (required by volunteers working with children). Members of the citizens’ group visit host families in advance. All parties involved, i.e. hosts, children and their families, must be in agreement with the arrangement.
